Kodak EasyShare Sport C123 12 MP Waterproof Digital Camera with 2.4-Inch LCD - Red (New Model)
I bought this camera for my 15 year old son who takes a 2 week trek. He has not actually taken the trip yet, but he has played around with the camera (we have two, actually) at home to become familiar with its features and capabilities. Given the price, I'm actually quite impressed. Aside from price, there are two reasons why I choose this camera. First, it waterproof (to 10 feet) and can be dropped in a puddle or rained on. The waterproof function does just such concerns out of the equation. My son is also a competitive swimmer, so I totally expect he will eventually also enjoy the pool with his friends. The second reason for choosing this camera was "easy share" of the images. You create e-mail or a Facebook account already, so when you take the pictures you choose where you want to share them (email, Facebook). To really share them, you have to put in a computer, but it will automatically and quickly send the images which you have designated. (Hint: you need to appoint an e-mail to send from, and a Yahoo or Gmail account is the easiest to use to create ... techies may know more, but it worked best for me). The biggest surprise was the images themselves. The quality is actually not bad. Professional photographers and photo enthusiasts would obviously not be satisfied, but for a 15-year-old boy or me, it works quite well. Options for lighting, etc. are available and are fairly easy to use. Video is great in good lighting. Lighting is probably the key to everyone, but we have not had any problems so far with no light (assuming the use of flash in low light). Things I would like to see would be the opportunity to socialize with more than one Facebook account at a time and a viewfinder so you can see what you did in bright sunlight, but these are minor drawbacks. Considering the cost, is this really a good camera, and will serve our purpose very well.
